A little overdue (not me, just my story)

I am a slow mover these days but even a slower thinker. So its been a week since the events I am about to describe but wanted to share anyway.
We meet for small group each Monday night with 5 other couples from Buckhead Church. January 12 was MANDATORY!!! But we weren't told why. When we got to the DeFeos house we were let in on the secret. We were given a large amount of cash, divided in ladies and men, and told to go find people to give it to. Wow! It was awesome! The girls all loaded up one minivan and the guys another and we set off in our different directions. We bought several things for a couple of ministries and individuals who some of the girls had a desire to help. While at the Dollar Tree one of the girls approached the manager and asked her to give this money to the next person who looked like they could use it as they checked out. Her response was wonderful. And then at KMart while we were checking out the woman at the register (Odessa)was commenting on the jacket we were purchasing and kept saying how much she liked it but it was still too much - she needed it to be $12 instead of $25. Well, I couldn't take it. We went and found her size (we think), bought it and handed it to her. She said, "for me?". Yes. It was so fun and a wonderful experience. The dudes had their own crazy story to tell that included a rap cd, people buying lots of cheetos and 15 Varsity hamburgers - I may let Art detail that more later!
Art and I are challenged to do things like this more often. While out of our comfort zones for a short time it was definitely a rewarding and learning experience. Plus, we were not more than 6 miles from our house and there was obvious need everywhere.
Many many many thanks to our leaders for making this possible! It was awesome!
Okay - off to fold some laundry and make lunches for my two favorite people!
